The World Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective

Q. How long does it take to set up
my hosting account and domain name?
A. New accounts are set up 24 - 48 hours
after the payment is processed. Once an account is set up,
an activation notice will be sent to you via e-mail, which
will include
your user-ID, password and FTP host-name. You can begin uploading
files to your new website immediately. New account holders
will be given a temporary URL to access their site via the
web
prior to the completion of domain registration or redirection.

Q. Will I be able to edit my website
24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
A.You have unlimited access to your website via FTP or
Front Page 24 hours a day. As such, you can create and maintain
your
web
pages
on your own computer and upload files to your website at
your leisure.

Q. How do I transfer files to my website?
A. You can use your favorite FTP client to transfer files
to our server. Some hosting packages also include access
to our server through Front Page.
If you do not have an FTP client, we recommend a FREE program
called FileZilla. You can download a copy of this program
from: http://filezilla.sourceforge.net

Q. What type of e-mail accounts
do I get with my hosting account?
A. With your hosting account, you have the option
of choosing either e-mail forwarding or POP3 e-mail accounts.
The number of accounts that are included with your
hosting is based on the package you purchase.

Q. What is e-mail forwarding?
A. E-mail forwarding is the capability to have e-mail
received on our server forwarded automatically to another
e-mail account of your choice. We can arrange to forward
all e-mail received at your domain to your current active
e-mail account.

Q. What is a POP3 e-mail account?
A. A mailbox that receives mail and stores it on the
server until it is downloaded by an e-mail program.

Q.How do I configure my e-mail accounts?
A.Your e-mail is configured through a web interface which
can be found by going to your home page and adding "/panel"
to your URL. (i.e. www.hostedincanada.com/panel)

your control
panel, our on-line hosting manual will show you just how
to do it!

Q.How do I access my POP3 e-mail box?
A.You have two options: first, through web mail (available
to specific hosting packages) and second, through your favorite
e-mail software client (i.e. Outlook or Outlook Express).
The server settings you will need to use in your mail client
will be in the hosting package that you receive when you
sign up for hosting.

Q. Can I get additional e-mail accounts
on my current hosting package?
A. Yes. We offer ala-carte e-mails, please call

Q. Do you offer e-mail auto-responder capabilities?
A. Yes. Included with every e-mail account is the ability
to create auto-responders.

Q. What is a "Catchall" e-mail?
A. A Catchall e-mail account will collect anything@yourdomain.com
that you have not specifically set up an alias or POP3
account for.
You'll get all the mail sent to your domain name and your
customers will
not
receive
mail
bounces
for
invalid
e-mail addresses
at your domain.

Q. Do you provide technical support?
A. Yes. We offer telephone support for our business packages
and online support for our personal packages. We also
encourage our customers in need of information or assistance
to send e-mail to support@hostedincanada.com
or visit our Support pages.
We provide technical support for our products and services only;
we cannot provide help with HTML syntax or CGI programming problems
not related to our servers. Tech support is offered live 5 days a
week (during regular business hours), and
we have 24/7 after hours on-call technicians.

Q. What if I go over my traffic allowance?
A. An e-mail warning will be sent advising you
of the situation and you will be billed at the end of the
month for the additional bandwidth. You may purchase extra
traffic at $0.025 per megabyte.

Q. Can I get additional disk space?
A. Yes, you can purchase extra space at $7.95
per month for each additional 10 megs.

Q. Do you maintain a backup of my data?
A. Yes, we do daily complete backups of your website
and e-mails. We store 3 days' worth of backups from our
system.
There is a fee to restore a backup
file, should you request it.

A. For our Linux based customers we offer AWstats (See

Q. Can I install my own CGI scripts?
A. Yes, each domain has its own local cgi-bin.
For your cgi-bin to work you must notify support@hostedincanada.com
to allow activation of cgi code through our firewall.

Q. What database access do you offer?
A. We offer MySQL, Microsoft ACCESS and Microsoft
SQL based on the hosting package you choose.

Q. Can I use SSI (Server Side Includes)?
A. Yes, SSI's will parse on any page ending
in .shtm or .shtml, rather than the usual .htm or .html.

Q. Do you support JAVA?
A. Currently jdk 1.2 is installed on all servers.
Java servlets are not presently supported.

Q. I already have a website hosted elsewhere.
Can I move here?
A. Yes! Just be sure to specify that you are requesting
a transfer and NOT a new domain when you order your hosting
package with us. You should keep your old service with your
current provider while waiting for your DNS settings to complete
the transfer process. We will provide you with a temporary
IP address so you can mirror the site on our server.

Q. Who registers domain names?
A. The Inter NIC is an independent organization responsible
for holding the registration and routing of Internet domain
names. Without these people, it would be virtually impossible
to maintain sanity on the Internet. We can provide you
with
domain registration services and in some cases, a domain
name is included in your web hosting package.

and running?
A. Domain registrations are usually active in 24-48
hours. Hosting packages are created immediately after your
payment is made. You will be able to start uploading files
and setting up your website in less than 10 minutes after
making payment.

Q. Can I have other domain names pointing
to my web site?
A. Yes, for a one-time $9.95 fee per additional
domain, we can redirect other domain names (that you own)
to your main web pages. This is a great way to expand the
marketing of your present business.

Q. Can I setup a 3rd level domain? (e.g. http://secure.hostedincanada.com)
A. Yes, we can give you a third level domain name such
as secure.hostedincanada.com for a small fee. Please call
our office for details. The packages are the same as the
one
posted for normal domains. The advantage to these is Inter
NIC registration is not needed. This means no Inter NIC registration
fees.
